The Rodeo in our Backyard

The Rodeo in our Backyard

The Pacific Northwest is quintessential Wild West. In our coastal backyard we have a large community of farmers equestrians and atge community of farmers, equestrians and rodeo enthusiasts. The local North West Washingotn Fair in Lynden hosts the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Rodeo every summer. This association is one of the most coveted orginazattions for rodeo sanctioning in the world. The voice of the Rodeo Jody Carper and legendary Rodeo Entertainer Matt Merrit charmt he crowds as they wait for the vents to start. This year yet another two sold out nights are upon us and the coewds buzz in anticipation. The buzz that surrounds is not only for the main events it is for the support of the rodeo community.

The rodeo is known to be run by the cowboy code “the Code of the West” a mesh of values; trust, honesty, hard work and never-give-up attitude. The locals, out of towners and passerby's that are attending tonight may be from different walks of life but are all joined by this code.

The rodeo does not distinguish against man or women. This year for the first time ever we have the Womens Breakaway roping event. This is one of the fastest growing sports in the Country. A cowgirl ropes a calf that breaks away after the rope tightens. This sport amplifies the meaning of “Do it like a girl” it takes a great deal. of strength, agility and grit. The cheers of the crowds go wild as they see the fearless riders facing off against their bulls, horses and obstacles. The riders not only take on physical strain but emotional tolls as not all are champions tonight.

The ruggedness and adventure of our Wild West community is what guides us to also channel the laid back and relaxing aspects of seaside life.
